Co-create EYE2023 with us!

The EYE is an event for youth, co-created with youth, and participants can propose and organise interactive or artistic activities. The European Parliament has launched two calls for groups wishing to organise activities during the event.

The deadline for both calls is 10 November 2022.

Apply to receive a grant to organise activities in the EYE Village.

The call is addressed to pan-European youth and civil society organisations, and higher education establishments for artists, with at least 4 years’ proven communication experience as multipliers, able to mobilise wider networks with an explicit aim at connecting with and empowering young people.

FAQ

  • The programme of the EYE is created for young people by young people. We would like to co-create the event together with you for all the participants coming to the EYE.

  • The EYE is an event for youth, co-created with youth, and participants can propose and organise interactive or artistic activities.

  • Call for Proposals

    The action supported under this call is a mono-beneficiary action. This means that there is one legal entity applying for a grant. To be eligible for a grant, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are:

    • A legal person constituted and registered as not for profit entity or equivalent according to the national legislation;
    • A legal person constituted and registered as legal entity for at least four years at the time of application;
    • A legal person based in one of the Member States of the European Union.;
    • A legal person with nonpartisan political affiliation.

    For action categories 1 and 3: 

    A pan-European youth organisation or a pan-European civil society organisation. For the purpose of this call, the concept of pan-European organisation refers to:

    • either national membership organisations part of a network of organisations sharing common values. Only organisations part of a network represented in seven or more Member States can present proposals to this call;
    • or organisations representing the interest of a wide group of member organisations from different Member States. Only organisations with member organisations from seven or more Member States can present proposals to this call

    For action categories 2:

    • A pan-European youth organisation or a pan-European civil society organisation (see definitions provided above), or
    • Universities departments/faculties or higher education establishments preparing young people to become professional artists in the areas of theatre/dramatic arts, circus, pantomime or dance.

    Call for Activity Organisers

    In order to be eligible for the call for activity organisers, you need to fulfil the following criteria:

    • The organising group must consist of min. 10 participants and max. 20 participants
    • Participants must be residents of the European Union, a candidate country, or the UK.
    • They must be between 16-30 years old by the date of the event (9-10 June 2023), with the exception of the group leader, who can be older than 30 but must be at least 18 years old.
    • The organising group is also required to describe their communication plan to promote their workshop at the EYE.
  • Interactivity! We encourage you to design your activity as interactive and engaging for participants as possible.

  • EYE2023 will be organised in-person in Strasbourg on 9 and 10 June. A limited amount of activities will be available in a hybrid format and live streamed to our online audience.

  • Call for Proposals

    There are 3 categories of actions you can apply for:

    • Category 1 – design and implementation of inclusive and interactive outdoor debates and workshops, focusing on current issues, creating ideas and actions for the future of Europe and/or offering capacity building resources;
    • Category 2 – design and implementation of a cultural programme (theatre/dramatic art, circus, pantomime and dance);
    • Category 3 – design and implementation of an outdoor music programme involving artists between 16 and 30 years old, selected through a competition.

    You can propose various formats e.g. a panel discussion, a workshop, a simulation game or even a sustainable fashion show – to get a better understanding of what we are looking for you can have a look at our selection criteria.

    Usually our workshops welcome between 30-60 people.

    In our application form, we ask you to define the maximum number of participants yourselves. Since interactivity is a core selection criterion, we recommend you take into consideration how many participants can be accommodated in your activity while maintaining interactivity.

  • Call for Proposals

    You can submit an activity of minimum half a day and maximum two days.

    Call for Activity Organisers

    Usually we foresee time slots of 30-90 minutes for your activities. If you would like to request a different duration, please justify this in your application. Please also keep in mind that we ask you to facilitate your activity once on Friday 9 June and once on Saturday 10 June.

  • Call for Proposals

    The activity will take place in the EYE Village. We provide basic equipment, the full list of which is specified in the call for proposals. All additional special equipment should be brought by the grantee directly.

    We can provide you with a furnished space and basic equipment for your activity. The potentially available equipment is specified in the application form.

    No limit on the number, but you should apply with a programme between minimum half a day and maximum two days.

    You are welcome to propose different activities, but please note that only one activity may be selected and receive a financial contribution.

    No limit, but as you will have to cover the costs for the organising team from the grant, make sure to indicate all the costs in the proposed budget.

    You can bring a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 participants as part of your organising team.

  • Attending EYE2023 is always free. Once accredited, you can participate in other activities of the EYE programme.

    Please note that you will also get a financial contribution to cover some of your travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses to come to Strasbourg.

Questions regarding the Call for Activity Organisers

  • No, you do not need to be part of a registered entity. You can also apply as e.g. a school class or with a group of friends as long as you fulfil our eligibility criteria and are motivated to organise an engaging activity for EYE2023.

  • No, you are eligible for the call if the participants are residents of the European Union, a candidate country or the UK and fulfil all other eligibility criteria.

  • Yes, that is possible!

  • Your activity will have to be held in English, French or German. Please note that EYE2023 cannot facilitate interpretation.

  • The financial contribution will cover some of your travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses. As the calculation of the contribution is dependent on your place of residency, we cannot provide you with a final sum at this stage.

  • Yes. If you are selected through the Call for Activity Organisers, we can offer you a financial contribution to cover some of your travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses. As all additional costs will have to be funded from your own resources, we do not require a budget sheet for this call.

  • We expect to be able to notify you regarding the selected proposals by the end of November-beginning of December 2022.

  • Yes, involvement of an MEP will be considered a bonus, but is not mandatory. Please note that EYE2023 cannot facilitate contact to MEPs.
