YOUTH NETWORK EVENT 2021

Youth Network Event: Creating things together!

Who thought networking is not possible during a pandemic? The 2021 edition of the Youth Network Event took place online, on 25 and 26 February with several youth organisations joining from all across Europe.

Co-creation was at the heart of the Youth Network Event. Youth organisations from all over the EU – especially local and regional ones, and those focusing on disadvantaged youth – got a chance to gather and meet up with the Youth Outreach Unit of the European Parliament. New ideas to support young people were discussed. The event focused also on concrete projects to turn these concepts into reality. In a fully participatory format, the 81 participants reflected on what has worked well and on what needs to be done differently or better.

Various working sessions brought up a variety of topics for discussion. These included the implementation of local activities, the organisation of projects to empower rural communities, minorities and people with disabilities, the simplification of language and the redesign of communication channels.

For the participants, the event was a perfect occasion to contribute in shaping the future strategy of the Parliament for working with young people and to improve collaboration between large and smaller organisations.

The Youth Network Event is now a fixed annual appointment as part of the European Parliament youth offer.

If you were a participant, do not forget to join the Youth Network Facebook group to be in touch!
